Jaisalmer to face blackout from 6 PM to 6 AM, markets shut after 5 PM

In a significant escalation of emergency measures, the Jaisalmer district administration in Rajasthan has issued strict new guidelines following the discovery of a live bomb. The entire district will observe a complete blackout from 6 PM to 6 AM, and all markets have been ordered to shut by 5 PM sharp today. The move comes amid heightened security tensions linked to the ongoing conflict between India and Pakistan.

Local residents have been instructed to switch off all lights, including those in homes, shops, and public places, for the entire blackout duration. The administration emphasized that this precaution is vital to avoid visibility from aerial threats or surveillance, especially in border regions prone to enemy activity.

Security protocols have been intensified, especially around the Defense Area of Jaisalmer. A strict no-entry zone has been established within a 5-kilometer radius of the military installation. Movement of all civilian vehicles—including two-wheelers, three-wheelers, and four-wheelers—has been completely restricted in this sensitive zone until further orders.

Officials also warned of stringent legal action against anyone found loitering in restricted areas or violating blackout guidelines. A similar directive has been issued in neighboring Barmer district as a preventive measure, considering the region's proximity to the international border.
